Will my licensing board accept hours tracked in Formative?

Formative is a tracking and organization tool. It does not submit hours to any licensing board on your behalf. Your board has its own required forms and submission process. Formative organizes all your data so that filling those forms out is fast and accurate, but you'll complete and submit them through your board's own process.

Does my supervisor need a paid account?

Supervisor accounts are completely free. Supervisors can view their supervisees' hours, sign off on entries, and access the full supervisor dashboard at no cost. If a supervisor also wants to track their own hours (for CEUs, or toward an ACS or AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation), that's available for $8.99/month, the same plan supervisees use.

What happens if I change supervisors?

You can add a new supervisor at any time and set an end date on previous supervisor relationships. All previously signed entries remain intact and attributed to the supervisor who signed them, and your full history is preserved for audit purposes.

Does Formative work in my state?

Yes. Formative is state-agnostic. You configure your own required hour totals based on your licensing board's rules. The platform works for pre-licensed clinicians and specialty certification candidates anywhere in the US.

What if I'm pursuing more than one credential at once?

That's exactly what Formative is built for. You can track unlimited credential tracks simultaneously. Hours that apply to multiple tracks can be logged once and counted toward each applicable track.

Is my data safe? What about client privacy?

Formative stores hours and metadata only: no client names, no session notes, no PHI. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with row-level database security ensuring only you and your connected supervisors can access your records.

Does it work on my phone or tablet?

Formative is a web-based app. It runs in your browser on any device, including phones, tablets, and computers. There's no app store download required. Just open your browser and go to formativetracking.com.

What happens to my hours after I'm licensed?
